It’s Oktoberfest!  Break out the Festbiers and Marzens!

We made it another year to one of our favorite shows, it’s time to taste Oktoberfests!  12 beers, 6 guys, pretzels and brats and kraut.  Good times.

Nothing fancy here, we’re not BJCP judges or Sissyrones, we just know what we like.  We sample the beers and pick our Top 3 based solely on how much we enjoy them.  We also share some stats and fun facts about Oktoberfest in Munich.  Origins, changes in the beer, and the rules for serving your beer at Oktoberfest.

The Guest Judges

Stephen Kaskade is the new General Manager at Ironmonger Brewing.  Stephen comes from a career in food service where he’s manager bar and cocktail programs at several great restaurants.  Stephen joins Ironmonger with a goal to bring more fun events to the taproom and spread the word about Ironmonger beer.

Stephen McCloskey is the President of The Beer Growler in Brookhaven, GA.  After working for the business for nearly 10 years he had the chance to purchase it, so he did.  The Beer Growler was one of a handful of growlers shops that popped up during the craze a few years ago.  They were able to survive the boom and bust of the growler craze by shifting to a bar/taproom format.

Special thanks to Nathan Donner!  Nathan has joined us the last couple of years to pour the beers for us and keep the rounds flowing.  He also makes some great Chex Mix.
