Wrecking Bar Brewmaster Neal Engleman to be inaugural Head Brewer at Bold Monk Brewing Co.

Bold Monk Brewing Co. announced today that Wrecking Bar Brewpub‘s Neal Engleman would be joining the team as Head Brewer at their soon-to-open Westside Atlanta location.  Engleman announced yesterday that he would be departing the Wrecking Bar and dropped a hint at his new position saying, “I’m excited for what is next and you’ll hear about my bold move soon.”

The Bold Monk is the newest venture from Brewed to Serve Restaurant Group, the parent company behind Max Lager’s Wood-Fired Grill & Brewery, White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails and Richards’ Southern Fried.  Partner and Chief Brewing Officer John “JR” Roberts  stated, “Neal has made Wrecking Bar Brewpub’s brewing program one of the top in the nation, and Bold Monk is the perfect fit for his skills and thirst for knowledge.”

“When I heard about Bold Monk opening up, it seemed like a perfect place to take my skills to the next level while getting to work with JR, one of the most respected brewers in the Southeast,” said Engleman. “The opportunity to focus on Belgian beer, mixed-culture fermentation and utilizing one of the state’s largest wooden cellars for both funky and clean beers will prove to be something truly special for Georgia. I look forward to integrating these styles with a contemporary and thoughtful clean beer program. Our goal is to produce inspired beers while cultivating community through our gathering space.”

Wrecking Bar has made a huge impact on the Atlanta and Georgia beer scene since their opening 8 years ago.  Both the food and beer at Wrecking Bar are fantastic.  Under Engleman, Wrecking Bar has won awards at many Georgia events and brought home a Silver medal from the Great American Beer Festival in 2018.  In addition, the brewpub hosts two of Atlanta’s best beer festivals each year with Strong Beer Fest and the Wild Beer and Cheese Festival.
