SweetWater Taproom to Close for Major Renovation
SweetWater to add centerpiece bar, indoor/outdoor environment, and kitchen to main taproom
Atlanta’s SweetWater Brewing will close their main taproom for major renovations October 1, 2018 through (estimated) January 2019. While under renovation, the brewery will still offer tours and tastings during normal hours Thursday through Sunday via bars set up on their tented patio. The Woodlands will continue to offer tours and tastings on Saturdays, and private events will continue to be held in The Woodlands and Reel Room.
Taproom renovation plans
Physical improvements to SweetWater’s taproom will include a new bar as the centerpiece, and large roll-up doors creating a comfortable indoor/outdoor environment with communal seating. The addition of a kitchen will allow the brewery to offer catering services to private events, plus a bar menu for taproom guests during regular hours. SweetWater hired Rene Ferandel as architect and Catamount as contractor.
The taproom is expected to reopen in January. Taproom hours will remain the same, as will the basic premise: Offer a fun, interactive, tasty SweetWater beer sampling experience at the source. Brewery tours will still be encouraged, and the taproom will continue to program live music, games and other experiences. The kitchen will serve food from a casual bar menu, designed to pair well with SweetWater brews. Food will be ordered at the counter and may be consumed at the bar or communal tables.
Live music and tasty brews planned ahead of renovation
Friday, 9/28: Taproom opens at 4:20 pm. Noonday Son will jam on the patio with an incredible light show starting at 7:30 pm. HeadCount.org will be on site with voter registrations and raffles.
Saturday, 9/29: Live music from 3 – 7 pm with Last Chance Riders, Cure My Enemy, and Nobody’s Darlings.
There’s no admission to these events and pints and flights will be available for purchase.
