We’re talking Atlanta Beer History! Ron Smith and Mary O. Boyle, authors of Atlanta Beer: A Heady History of Brewing in the Hub of the South and Prohibition in Atlanta join us to talk about the history of Atlanta beer, the effects of the Civil War on beer production, prohibition in Georgia, what’s changed in the last 100 or so years, and what hasn’t. We learned some amazing facts about the people who started breweries here and other things they accomplished, as well as what stands at the location of one of Atlanta’s longest running breweries, which operated for nearly 100 years. Next week we’ll chat with Arches Brewing! The guys from Arches will join us in the studio to chat about their little brewery on the south side of Atlanta. They’re brewing some great Old World still as well as awesome newer styles, and although they are all very laid back they take their beer very seriously.
