Crescendo to be first release in Creature Comforts’ new tasting room exclusive canned offerings

If you follow Creature Comforts on social media you may have seen a tease from them last week on a new beer.  The pic touted a brew with El Dorado, Galaxy, and Grungeist hops with the reminder to “Drink. Crush. Recycle.”, hinting at a can release.  My first thought was, “Awesome!  A new beer!”, followed quickly by, “What the heck is Grungeist?”  This experimental hop exhibits flavors of peach, lemon, and passion fruit which should please the juice bomb fans.

Crescendo IPA is first up for these innovative brewery-only (or mostly) releases.  Creature Comforts has recently expanded their brewhouse and they’ve earmarked a  30-barrel fermenter and brite tank exclusively for these experimental projects.  Other beers are already in the works including a Double IPA (possibly named Duende) and a Coffee Stout.

Innovative beers targeted to offer more options for tasting room visitors

Creature Comforts’ Seth Herman tells us, “Our goal is to get more of the innovation that we are working on into the market in a limited format, and provide more options on-site as well as limited previews in the market.”  Herman explained that they are now able to do this thanks to scale and success of their core and seasonal offerings as well as the changes in the DoR regulations allowing more ways to get beer into the hands of customers in the tasting room.  Until the recent expansion, Creature Comforts has had to focus all production on keeping up with demand for core and seasonal beers.  Beers from the Innovation Project will be offered on draft in the tasting room, as well as in canned 4-packs exclusively for visitors to the tasting room.  There will be limited availability on draft in the market.

Expect to see Crescendo on draft in the tasting room very soon with the cans to follow, targeting a release around Athens’ The Wild Rumpus on October 28-29.

EDIT:  Creature Comforts clarified this isn’t a “series” but rather, “…how we’re going to approach brewing & creating new offerings in our Tasting Room!”
