Three Taverns releasing ‘Fortunatus’, a mixed-fermentation sour ale
Fortunatus to join Inceptus as second sour/wild offering from Three Taverns
Born from the wild yeasts in the air after Snowpocalypse 2014, Inceptus has been Three Taverns only wild/sour offering until now. On April 29th Fortunatus will be released at the brewery.
This new brew was bottled in 2016 and left to rest “until ready”. It’s a mixed-fermentation ale using a Lactobacillus strain and Three Taverns’ house Belgian yeast for primary fermentation followed by aging in previously used oak barrels with the addition of Brettanomyces to enhance the funky character. This is the most sour beer offered from the brewery to date.
Three Taverns had this to say about the beer. “Crafted with a dedication to patience and the time required for this beer to be ready, we are more than excited to see another beer from our Funk Yard enter the market. Hope to see you on the 29th. Cheers.”
