Big beers and bold art are where it’s at for Abomination Brewing
Like man breweries, Abomination Brewing was started in a garage by friends Joe Feldman and Josh Arno. Word got around that they were making great beers and people started to ask them to brew beers for their events, finally growing to the point they needed to expand and become an actual brewery. The pair tells us that the name comes from the abomination that was their homebrew kit. Pieced together from whatever could be find, in the true spirit of the hobby.
Abomination is a nomadic brewer, partnering with Twelve Percent Beer Project. You’ve likely heard this type of arrangement referred to as “gypsy brewing”, but that term can be considered offensive. Arno and Feldman speak very highly of their friends at Twelve Percent. In a couple short years they’ve been able to get their beer into 32 states thanks to the partnership. However, they are on the lookout for their own space. Feldman tells us a bit about that, but says to stay tuned for the full story soon.
As the conversation goes on and the beer keeps flowing we dive into the more important topics, like a heated discussion on the best type of hot dog and condiments. We talk long boils and blow the minds of Abomination when we tell tales of 24-hour boils which leads us to invent the “boil solera.” With art being a big part of their brand we also discuss the labels and artists and find out there is a common connection between beer art and cigar art.
Abomination Social Distancing Collaboration
A global pandemic can really put a damper on the community aspect of brewing. Collaborations allow brewers to get away from home for a bit and share and learn from other brewers, all while making tasty beers. Abomination Brewing was feeling down about the current state of the world (gestures broadly at everything) and decided to get their brewing friends together for Social Distancing Collaboration. The goal is to “brew a beer together, but responsibly apart,” with each brewery putting their own spin on this DDH DIPA. Check out more info and the list of participating breweries right hurr.
We had a fun conversation with some great beer talk and a bit of going off the rails. Make sure to check out the show and look for Abomination at your local stores.
