This Week in Georgia Beer | Mar. 20-26, 2020
THIS WEEK ON BEER GUYS RADIO
Amid all the coronavirus preparations we did manage to get an episode together this week. We’re celebrating our backyard and Cobb County Craft Beverage Makers with Ironmonger Brewing and Viking Alchemist Meadery. We chat about the expansion at Ironmonger and the awesome new axe throwing range, plus Viking Alchemist’s soon to open tasting room connected to Ironmonger’s taproom.

WE’RE GOING TO DO THINGS A BIT DIFFERENTLY THIS WEEK…
Nearly every event across the state is cancelled, either voluntarily or due to mandatory closings. So, there’s not a lot to share. Instead, we’re going to share some info on how Georgia’s breweries and restaurants are addressing these challenges and some other resources of interest.
DONATE TO SUPPORT OUT OF WORK RESTAURANT AND BREWERY EMPLOYEES
Many breweries and restaurants have already had layoffs and these employees need all the help they can get. Giving Kitchen and Bottleshare are two great charities helping the foodservice and craft beverage industries. To mulitply the power of your donation, Scofflaw Brewing’s “Support Squad” has agreed to match the first $10,000 of donations to each charity through their findraisers.

BREWERY STATUS LIST | The folks at Reddit ATLbeer have compiled a list of which breweries are closed or open and which are offering special to-go options.
GET ALCOHOL DELIVERED IN DECATUR | This was new news as we write this so check with your favorite location to see what the details are. The short of it is that Decatur temporarily “allows restaurants with a current alcoholic beverage license to sell beverages for off-premises consumption in sealed containers.” (Info via Decaturish.com)
UPDATE: CITY OF ATLANTA BARS AND RESTAURANTS CAN NOW SELL ALCOHOL TO GO | Check with your local watering hole to get the good stuff, maybe raid the cellar at The Porter.
MAIL ORDER YOUR BEER
Asheville’s Burial Beer Co. is offering online ordering with nationwide delivery.

BUSTING UP BUBBLES AND BREWS
What timing for Cobb County. We’ve heard they’re going to extend the events and prizes into April and we’ll update when we can. Head to the website to get info on all the great beverages in Cobb and plan your post-pandemic trip.
BEER RELEASES
Beers marked with a * are from breweries owned by AB InBev, MillerCoors, or other “Big Beer” corporations.
There are still several beer releases this week and the unfortunate cancellation of the Back to the Juice festival means many of their beers are hitting distribution. Keep an eye out for some special brews. HOWEVER, some of these releases have specials rules – so check out all the info before you head out.
