The Great American Eclipse: Where to Watch and Drink Beer
The Eclipse is coming!
And while our ancestors may have cowered in fright over it, we can use it as an excuse to get out of work on Monday. And if you’ve got the right kind of schedule, you’ll be able to head up and catch the eclipse in its totality.
While Metro Atlanta and Northern Alabama will experience near totality, to get the full experience, you’ll have to head northeast. Here are a few breweries in the “totality zone” and what they’re planning for Monday:
Blue Ridge:
GRUMPY OLD MEN BREWING is opening on Monday. $20 gets you a souvenir glass, six pours and a pair of eclipse glasses.
FANNIN BREWING is hosting “Black Out At Fanning Brewing.” For $20, you get a commemorative glass (first 70 guests), and they will be pouring a special “Black” beer – Black Bear Black Lager. Doors open Monday at 12 noon.
Anderson, SC:
CAROLINA BAUERNHAUS is open on Monday starting at 11 am and tapping two special brews. Details
Greenville, SC:
THOMAS CREEK BREWERY – Described as a “hoppy, funky barrel aged” beer, Thomas Creek will be tapping their special 2 Minute Twilight Farmhouse IPA starting at 12 noon. At 3 pm, they will release bottles of this beer – 2 bottle limit at $12.99 / 750 Ml Corked and Caged. The party will start at 12 noon and continue through 8. More Details
QUEST BREWING COMPANY – Asheville’s Phuncle Sam (a Grateful Dead jam band) will play this party. There will also be food and special release beers on tap. Quest opens at 12 noon until 6 pm. More Details
