Colorectal Cancer Awareness

Get Checked Early and Go Blue with Jekyll

In 2015 Jekyll Brewing’s owner Michael Lundmark and his wife Erin decided they wanted to adopt foster teenagers from the Georgia foster care system.  Erin wanted to make sure they would have a permanent home before they aged out of foster care and home for the holidays.  As part of the adoption process there are several trainings, background checks, and physical evaluations to ensure a family is able to handle this huge responsibility.

Erin scheduled her fist physical in July 2015.  Both of the Lundmarks are active and physically fit, so she considered this just a routine procedure.  During the examination Erin discovered a pain in her abdomen when the doctor pressed around her liver.  What she assumed was just a pulled muscle from working out turned out to be Stage IV Colorectal Cancer that had spread to her liver and lungs.

The family was instantly faced with a harsh new reality of fighting the disease.  Erin has been undergoing chemotherapy for the past year and a half and remains positive for this disease which there is no known cure.
