This Week in Georgia Beer | Feb. 17-23, 2017
This Week on Beer Guys Radio
We’re talking with the Marietta, GA’s Ironmonger Brewing! Owner David Sheets and Head Brewer Barron Slüder joined us in the studio this week to talk about their brewery. Barron recently joined the team after his departure from Kennesaw’s Dry County Brewing Company and is excited to be a part of the team. We sample a lot of their beers as we talk about how they got started, the Marietta beer scene, their upcoming concert venue, and what the passage of Sb 85 would mean for their business. David also owns Naughty Soda which is connected to Ironmonger so if you want some hard sodas and beer they’ve got one stop shopping.
Next week we’re talking with Gulf Shores, AL’s Big Beach Brewing. Big Beach is one of the new kids on the block but they’ve been making waves in Alabama. Winner in three separate categories in our Best of Alabama Beer 2016 poll, they’re obviously doing something right.
Listen to Beer Guys Radio every Saturday in Atlanta at 1:00 PM Eastern on AM 920 or Sunday at 6:00 AM on Biz 1190. If you’re in Alabama you can catch the show live at 1:00 PM Central on 92.9 FM / 1450 AM in Huntsville or 94.7 FM / 1490 AM in Decatur We’re also streaming live on our website, iHeartRadio, or TuneIn. Can’t catch the live show? That’s cool, we’ve got you covered. All past shows are available on-demand on our site or your favorite podcasting app.
SB 85 UPDATE: SB 85 passed the House Regulated Industries Committee unanimously and is currently on the general calendar to be called up for a vote. There’s no set timeline when that might happen. There was a substitute bill adding language for distilleries to SB 85 to allow up to 500 barrels per year direct sales and a limit of 3 bottles per day per person to go. For more info see our full coverage of SB 85 here.

Thanks for all you do got craft beer and brewing in the state of Georgia. I subscribe to your email and regularly read your Facebook posts. Yesterday I listened to the show because, as a Mariettan. I am interested in Ironmonger. I have some questions that weren’t addressed. Is Ironmonger in bars? If so, where? Is it/will it be canned, bottled, and if so where is it for sale? If no to the above, why and what are the plans for retail sales?
Hey Dave, thanks for listening, we really appreciate it! Those are great questions, we dropped the ball not asking that on the show! I know they are draft-only right now and there should be some headed out to bars soon. I’ve got a message out to David to get some details on future packaging plans and will let you know when I hear back. Cheers!
Dave, per Ironmonger they are in several bars in Cobb County now and will be in bottles in April.
