Second Self expanding brewery, will begin canning in-house
Atlanta’s Second Self expands brewery, will open new tasting room early Summer 2016
Second Self’s brewing operation has been at capacity since March 2015 and to address this demand they are currently in the process of a major expansion that will increase their production 150%. Their new canning line recently arrived at the brewery and they will start canning their beer in-house beginning May 1st, currently they are working with a mobile canner for their Thai Wheat (a spicy American wheat beer) and Red Hop Rye (a Hybrid red rye IPA). With the new canning line in-house they will also add Maverick & Gose (a dry-hopped Gose) and Mole Porter (a Chocolate Porter with mole spices) to their canned offerings.
A new tasting room is on track to open this summer that will triple the size of their current space and accommodate up to 200 guests. Design features will include a 24-foot butcher-block bar, a separate kitchen for catered events and regular chef pop-ups, reclaimed wood tables, and much more.
You can currently find Second Self’s beers on draft throughout Georgia, cans of Red Hop Rye and Thai Wheat are also currently available across the state.

Founder Jason Santamaria and Chris Doyle met over a decade ago when they were both attending Georgia Tech. What started as a homebrewing experiment grew into Second Self Beer Company and the opened to the public in Fall 2014. Chris went on to work at Atlanta’s Sweetwater Brewery and earned his certificate from the American Brewers Guild Craft Brewers Apprenticeship program. Jason has a background in food and business. Second Self’s beers are brewed with only fresh ingredients like blue ginger and lemongrass (never dried ingredients or extracts). Jason and Chris designed each brew to be paired with food.
