Win a pair of passes to Atlanta’s Nuit Belge on January 23rd
Nuit Belge debuted in Nashville in the Spring of 2015 and after a very successful launch in their home city the event will go on the road in 2016, Atlanta will be the first stop on the tour. The Foundry at Puritan Mill will host the event on January 23rd at 7:00 PM. You can see a full list of participating restaurants and breweries here.
Here’s a sample of some of the pairings:
- Westmalle Dubbel paired with Bhojanic’s lamb curry, onion, tomato, garlic, ginger, yogurt sauce over cinnamon/cardamom basmati rice
- Creature Comforts Emergence paired with Empire State South’s fried catfish shumai
- Bachus Oud Bruin paired with Iberian Pig’s serrano braised rabbit empanadas with salsa verde and cumin crème fraîche

Rodenbach’s Grand Cru. It’s the one that turned me on to sours. It’s solid, easy to find, and affordable. Soooooogoood.
Gotta go with Cantillon. They’re masters of the art of blending lambics and can’t be matched. Cheers!
I know it’s trite, but I still have to go with St, Bernardus Abt 12. My favorite quad – like liquid hugs.
de Dolle Oerbier Special Reserva. 13% Flanders Oud Bruin FTW!
Orval rocks (and not just for the rocky head it usually pours with) due to its funkiness and hop bitterness.
Westvleteren 12 is nice, De Dolle Dulle Teve is so nice to be so mad, and Rochefort 10 makes me weak in the knees. Saison Dupont epitomizes summer. All of these pale in comparison to Cantillon’s Lou Pepe Kriek. From the carbonation to the tartness balanced by sweet cherries, to the way it pairs with Cremeaux de Bourgogne it is the best beer, Belgian or otherwise, I have experienced. Oh, Shelton Brothers. Why must you make life so difficult?
For me, Chouffe Houblon stands above the rest. Perfectly hoppy and delicious unlike any tripel I’ve had.
Saison Dupont. Lots of interesting flavors, easy to drink, and a lower ABV that doesn’t smack you over the head like a lot of Belgians.
Gotta go with St. Bernardus Abt 12 because of its many layers of complexity.
Cantillon Kriek, perfect amount of tartness and sweetness. Just nothing bad I could ever say about that beer.
