I was recently suggested Chimay and I really enjoyed it. It’s really tasty.
If I had the ability, I would drink a traditional Belgian beer every day. My favorite Belgian ale is most definitely the Westvelteren 12, even though the dubbel sometimes gives it a run for it’s money. It’s a tradition for me to imbibe the Westvelteren beer every year, and it’s amazing that to this day the monks are still out there brewing for us.
My favorite Belgian beer is the classic St. Bernardus Abt 12. Amazing mouthfeel + fruitiness = perfect quad. Reminds me of my time in Belgium.
Of all the Belgians I’ve had over the years, I must say that Westvleteren 12 is one of the best out there. Granted, I only got a few drops from a share that friends put on (I got there 15 minutes too late apparently) and they had all but finished their samples.
Maybe I’ll get to try a full glass soon!
My favorite Belgian beer was probably Delerium Nocturnum. My friends and I were in Belgium on a study abroad, and we went to Delerium one night. It started with some Nocturnum, and it ended up being one of the most fun nights of my life.
Westmalle Tripel is by far my favorite Belgian beer. I love Tripels and this one is the perfect representation of the style.
After having a blind tasting with some friends with several different belgian quads (Westvleteren 12, Rochefort 10, St. Bernardus Abt 12), I’ve gotta go with the every so well known Westvleteren 12. Although none of the 4 of us in the blind tasting picked the same order, I felt the Westy 12 was the best of the beers we sampled that day.
Cantillon Gueuze at the brewery, can’t be beat.
Cantillon Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio. First time having a fair amount of Cantillon (had about an ounce once at a share). The flavors were incredible. Tart and refreshing. If I could cheers with this instead of champagne, I would do it 100% of the time. MMMMMMMMMMMMMM
I really love Chimay Blue. One of the first Belgian beers I ever tried and still one of my favorites.
