Rodenbach’s Grand Cru. Yes, there are many others that are outstanding, but this was the first I had of this style and opened up my eyes to a new world of beer!
Got to go with the classic Westy 12 that my brother brought back from his trip to Belgium.
I’ve had VERY few Belgian beers but Rodenbach Caractère Rouge is probably my favorite. It’s an amazing overlooked offering
St. Bernardus Abt 12 is another and a close second.
My favorite Belgian is Cuvée Des Jacobins Rouge. Love the mix of fruit and tart in Flanders Reds.
Cantillon blaeber! Sour and blueberries. Can’t get much better than that:)
Congrats on winning a pair of tickets, David! Hope you enjoy the event!
My favorite Belgian beer is Trappist Westvleteran 12. Beer was extremely impressive in just being brewed to spec for its style. After trying the beer and reading about the history and more info of this beer it was a really cool experience.
Cantillon is great and would likely be my favorite as well if it were accessible. My favorite Belgian that’s accessible is Rodenbach’s Grand Cru. Rudi, Rodenbach brewmaster, was recently in Atlanta and I had the opportunity to speak with him about the brewery and brewing in general for 20 minutes while drinking a glass of Grand Cru.
My favorite belgian beer would have to be Neckbeard Shitlord from Burnt Hickory. What a great base to begin with, Charred Walls is one of my favorite beers in GA. But then the addition of coffee and stroopwafels carefully selected by the aforementioned neckbeard shitlords. Really took this beer to new heights. Not all great belgian beers are made in Belgium.
I don’t drink a ton of Belgian beers (NB would be a great way to get into them) but I’m a big fan of Orval. Not a heavy beer but it also goes beyond the typical banana/clove flavor you see with some Belgian styles.
Probably my favorite Belgian beer I’ve ever had is the Saint Lamvinus from Cantillon. Was fortunate enough to be able to visit Belgium and go to Cantillon and this one was the highlight! The mix of the lambic and the grapes was sublime! The atmosphere didn’t hurt either! Cheers!
