Eventide Brewing is adding an India Pale Ale to its year round lineup.

Starting spring 2017, look for The “A” IPA in cans and on draft in Georgia.

This is the first new year-round release for the Grant Park-based brewery since 2014. It will be Eventide’s third beer in cans, joining its Pale Ale and Kolsch.

With IPA’s taking up a significant chunk of shelf space and draft lines, Eventide strove to make a beer that would hold its own against the best of that style.

According to tasting notes supplied by the brewery, The “A” contains “huge hop aromas and flavors of tropical fruits, bright citrus and spicy pine melds with a clean profile and a firm, bitter finish.”

This is the fifth iteration of a flagship IPA for Eventide. The brewery says The “A” has a:

“Burnt sienna appearance with hints of reddish copper and a thin white head.  On the nose, this 65 IBU draft is very hop forward with notable tropical scents of bright citrus, mango, pineapple, and stone fruit.  A nice piney/herbal/peppery quality is also detectable.  Upon first sip, big fruity hop flavors explode, but the 7.6 SRM beer has just enough malt to bridge the gap to the firm bitter finish.”

“I spent a great deal of time researching available IPA styles and took the components from each we liked best,” said Eventide Brewmaster Geoffrey Williams.  “The malt profile is New England, the yeast profile is East Coast, and the hop profile is a fusion of West Coast and Pacific Northwest. The result is a juicy, slightly hazy, well balanced IPA with amazing flavor from start to finish.” (UPDATE): The hops in The “A” are Columbus, Cascade, Simcoe, and Citra.

“Eventide is currently expanding production by 75 percent,” said Nathan Cowan, Eventide Brewing CEO.  “This is the largest expansion that we have undertaken at one time to date and will allow us to push out more styles, in more package options, to more accounts, and has paved the way for a long anticipated year-round release of an IPA.”
