Slice & Pint in Emory Village cites high rent costs for closure

With new laws easing restrictions on Georgia’s brewers, five brewpubs have closed across the state this year.  Is it likely with increased competition (19 new breweries and brewpubs have opened in Georgia this year) we’ll see more closures in the future?  Most likely, yes.  However, owner Crawford Moran says Slice & Pint’s closing is simply about a landlord unwilling to budge on exorbitant rent prices.  With a lease up for a five-year renewal, Moran says it, “Just didn’t make sense,” to stay open.  The Emory Village area seems to be a revolving door for restaurants with at least seven others closing near Slice & Pint in the last few years due to rental costs. .

Earlier this year, Moran sold 5 Seasons Brewpub in Alpharetta after receiving a generous offer on the building, he continues to operate 5 Seasons Westside in Atlanta.  When asked what was next for him he said that location keeps him plenty busy

To “celebrate” the closing Slice & Pint has released The Rent is Too Damn High IPA with a reminder they have to drink the whole tank in 11 days.
