Creature Comforts New Bottles

Booger Hill, DaySpring, Golden Door to release in 750ml bottles

On November 24th Creature Comforts Brewing Company will release three limited offerings in 750ml bottles at their Athens, GA brewery.  Visitors to the taproom will also be able purchase limited and vintage bottles of Creature Comforts beer for on-site consumption beginning the same day.

Creature Comforts Booger Hill

Booger Hill is a barrel-aged Biere de Garde brewed with local honey sourced from Booger Hill Bee Company in Danielsville, GA, it is the second release in the brewery’s Locally Grown Series.  This brew was fermented in oak barrels with the brewery’s house mixed-culture of yeast and bacteria and spent 16 months aging in the barrels.  Booger Hill has a 7.8% ABV and presents a flavor and aroma of “almonds and subtle cherry, balanced by a palate of medium acidity.”  The beer was bottled in April 2016 and in September 2017 was disgorged – a technique commonly used to remove sediment and improve clarity when making sparkling wine.

Creature Comforts DaySpring

DaySpring is a Grisette made with local wheat which premiered at the Atlanta Cask Ale Tasting in January 2015.  The first beer in their Locally Grown Series, it features wheat sourced from DaySpring Farms in Danielisville, GA.  Much of the flavor in the beer is driven by the wheat, as well as the yeast and traditional European hops.  This bottle conditioned brew comes in and 5.3% ABV and features notes of “pastoral funk, grassiness, black tea, and an herbal hop character.”

This is the first beer that Creature Comforts has packaged in green bottles.  More light is able to penetrate these bottles, allowing customers to shape the flavor of the beer as it ages.  Although “lighstruck” is generally regarded as a negative quality, certain beers can benefit from this character and develop a very complex, funky character.

Creature Comforts Golden Door

Golden Door is a mixed fermentation Saison aged in oak barrels.  Creature Comforts mixed culture of yeast and bacteria is the backbone of the brewery’s barrel program.  Golden Door is an expression of that culture and time.  The beer is 6.7% ABC with flavor driven by the one year it spent in wood barrels before being bottled in April 2017.  The name is inspired by a quote from George Washington Carver that says, “education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom.”

Creature Comforts Wood Cellar and Specialty Brand Manager Blake Tyers says, “As saisons were made for farmers and fieldworkers, we wanted to honor a person who made a difference in the agricultural community, especially in Georgia…”

Creature Comforts to begin on-site bottle service for limited and vintage offerings

In addition to the three bottle releases Creature Comforts will also begin their on-site bottle service on November 24th.  This new program will allow visitors to the brewery to purchase limited and vintage offerings from the beer cellar for consumption in the taproom.  Bottles available for on-site consumption will be announced on Creature Comforts social media channels in the future, be sure to follow them for more information.
