Viking Alchemist Zima
The Viking Alchemist Meadery brought their delicious liquid. Tim brought the Zima.

Maybe your only exposure to Mead was at your local Renaissance Festival.

If that’s the case, then rethink everything you know about the ancient drink.

Robin, Tamara and Brian Kosoris are the family members behind Marietta’s Viking Alchemist Meadery. According to Robin, you won’t really get a honey flavor from their meads. But what you will get are a bunch of bold flavors. The Viking Alchemist Meadery creates meads that are approachable to both the beer crowd and wine fans.

Plus, we learn how to brew your own mead (hint: it’s pretty easy to get started!)

Plus, Brian Hewitt has his Cigar in 60 segment, and Jay Williams checks out Red Hare Brewing‘s Sparkling Grapefruit soda.

Truck and Tap‘s Beers…err…Drinks of the Week :

We went a little off the rails this week. Tim started the show with a rare bottle of a throwback drink. Zima. Yes. Zima. Jolly Ranchers were not provided. Then we got to the good stuff:

  • The Viking Alchemist Meadery’s:
    • Antimony (Cranberry and Cherry)
    • Bliss (Almond and Pear) – This was the absolute winner of the night!

Headlines (Sponsored by Your Pie Perimeter):

Coming up next week, we’re talking to Rome’s first brewery, Phantom Horse.

In the meantime, check out our podcast – Drink This Beer. This week’s show, we talk to Ohio’s Rivertown Brewery. Subscribe via iTunes (iOS) or Stitcher (Android)
