Terrapin Beer Company’s “Spike” Buckowski was in the Beer Guys Studios, and we were very excited.

Spike was in the house today.

No, not the inspiration for the great Elvis Costello album (at least not as far as we know), but “Spike” Buckowski, one of the founders of Athens’ Terrapin Beer Company joined us in studio this week.

We talked about their start, and growth – as the third oldest craft brewery in Georgia, they were instrumental in building the scene as we know it today. And yes, we also talked about Tenth and Blake (the craft and import division of Miller/Coors) acquiring a majority stake in the brewery.

Of course, we also talked beer. We cracked open a few of Terrapin’s newest releases, inlcuding:

Truck and Tap‘s Beers of the Week:

  • Terrapin Moo-Hoo chocolate milk stout
  • Terrapin Luau Krunkles IPA
  • Terrapin So Fresh and So Green, Green
  • Terrapin/Shmaltz 2016 Reunion Ale
  • Almanac White Label (silver medal winner at GABF)

Of course, we also talked all about our time at Great American Beer Festival, including an encounter with some amazing beers from Miami, Colorado and Washington….and super fresh Pliny the Elder on draft.
