Creature Comforts Epicurious

Chef-inspired Epicurious designed to be enjoyed with “food, family, and friends”

Creature Comforts brewing will release its next seasonal beer on draft and in 12 oz. cans the first week of October.  Epicurious is a chef-inspired beer meant to be served and enjoyed with food.

“We took a new approach in designing this beer,” said Creature Comforts Co-Founder and CEO Chris Herron.  “Rather than looking to industry trends for what to brew next, we developed a beer with the chef in mind.  Epicurious is a beer than a chef will want to drink and serve with their food, whether at their restaurant or at home cooking with family and friends.”

Several top chefs were consulted for Epicurious, including Peter Dale, Executive Chef and Owner of The National in Athens, and Ryan Smith, Executive Chef of Atlanta’s Staplehouse – which was recently named America’s Best New Restaurant for 2016 by Bon Appétit.

Epicurious is “refreshing, versatile, and approachable”, but does not fit into any traditional style.  Highly carbonated and coming in at 4.2% ABV with a minerality “to help cleanse the palate in between bites of food.”  Aroma and flavors are earthy, floral, and soft citrus hop character balanced by complex yeast and subtle bitterness on the finish.  Epicurious was brewed with rustic grains and flaked oats for a nice grain flavor and firm mouthfeel.

In a continuing tradition of supporting local artists, Creature Comforts worked with Athens artist and bartender at The National, Bryn Rouse to design the can artwork.  The artwork depicts culinary themes, representative of Epicurious’ harmonious qualities.
