Birmingham Brewery Cahaba and Atlanta-based blogger, host, social media star….you name it….Ale Sharpton joined us in the studio today for the Beer Guys Radio Show.

Brewmaster/Owner Eric Meyer took a break from doing his taxes to talk to us about his rapidly-growing brewery. Early this year, they moved from 8,000 square feet and a 3.5 barrel system to 51,000 square feet and 30 barrels.

We discuss the growth of the Birmingham beer scene, including friends of the show Trim Tab and J. Clyde.

Ale Sharpton also joined us in the studio, talking about his recent trips to Detroit and Dallas, including his close scrape with the tragic events of the past weeks.

Without going too in-depth, we also talked about the culture of craft beer, and how it can really help bridge some of the boundaries we see in this nation.

But hey, that’s a little too heavy for us, so back to the beer….

Too many to name. Jarrett from Bell’s was kind enough to stop by with some of their tasty brews, including Poolside Ale and a bourbon barrel aged Expedition Stout. No Black Note. Sorry!

Automatic. Because @creaturecomfortsbeer Thanks to @realalesharpton! #craftbeer #craftnotcrap #beerporn

Also, Ale brought his current favorite pale ale of the summer, Creature Comforts Automatic. And a DIPA from Marquette, Michigan, Blackrocks Murray Project.

Tim’s Whales of the week

Westbrook Key Lime Pie Gose: previously a draft-only release, this variant of the South Carolina brewery’s popular Gose will ship soon in cans.

Prairie Artisan Ales Birthday Bomb! and Apple Brandy Noir: If you haven’t bought this yet, you may be out of luck. Prarie’s Bomb! variants are always in high demand. Ale, Aaron and Tim all agreed that while both were exellent, the Apple Brandy Noir was the standout.

Note: Shop local. But if you can’t find some of these whales, go here. 1 cent shipping for every 12 you order!
