Reformation Brewery honored with ‘Set Beer Free Day’ in Woodstock

Many cities are beginning to realize the importance a local brewery can play in their community.  Woodstock city leaders decided to take a step in recognizing Reformation Brewery for their contributions, as well as bringing attention to the challenges brewers across Georgia face, by designating July 1st as ‘Set Beer Free Day’.

Presented by Mayor Donnie Henriques on Monday, June 13, the proclamation is a result of the brewery’s innovation, growth, community impact, and vision. “We’re humbled and surprised by this honor,” says Reformation Brewery CEO Spencer Nix. “We see this as an opportunity to explain what ‘set beer free’ means to us and to the communities that enjoy our beer.

A website elaborating on the phrase (setbeerfree.com) encourages visitors to “drink well” and “demand better” by drinking beer from their local brewery, as well as contacting their local representatives and asking them to advocate for “more jobs, and more freedom” for brewers in the state.

While details for the inaugural celebration have yet to be announced, Nix says it’s easy for anyone to celebrate the occasion. “Consumers have a powerful voice. Every time you order a locally made beer from your neighborhood taps, or pick up a sixpack from your local retailer, you advocate for small, independent beer producers. We hope this day will be an annual cause for celebration, advocacy, and change.
