Belgian Beers were on the docket as Kathy Davis from Abbey of the Holy Goats joined the Beer Guys in studio this weekend.

Davis, owner of Abbey of the Holy Goats — one of the newest breweries in Georgia, has a very long and interesting trip to brewing. From culinary school to a flirtation with living the life of a nun…she decided to either commune with a farm of goats or start a brewery. Fortunately, she chose the latter, and the brand new brewery in Roswell is the result.

Davis talks to us about her successful Kickstarter campaign, the trials of getting a brewery up and running, and why she prefers brewing Belgian styles. And yes, we do talk to her about being a woman brew master.

We also talk to Tara Nurin, a contributor to Forbes who recently wrote about the argument in the beer industry over the definition of “craft.”

The Beer Guys take a caller question, Tim’s got a Whale of the week (hint: it’s from Burnt Hickory), and we’ll tell you what’s on the Hot List for this week.

Truck and Tap’s beers of the week? Tim brought back a Good People Brewing Snake Handler Double IPA from Birmingham. And we also sample some of the Abbey’s tasty beverages.

Thanks for listening! Don’t forget to subscribe to our podcast (and leave us a note, if you’re so inclined).

Next week? We’ll be talking about beer bars. Email or post your questions or comments on Facebook/Twitter re: what makes a great beer bar. Cheers!
