Craft Beer 101 | An intro to craft beer styles

Don’t know a pilsner from a porter or a gose from a geuze?  Jason Dominy, a local Atlanta craft beer fan, wants to change that.

Jason Dominy wants to teach you about craft beer.

Craft beer sometimes gets a bad rap for being full of “beer snobs”.  No doubt there are some out there, but there are a lot more beer fans/geeks/nerds that want to enjoy and share their passion with others, like Jason.  He’s hosted many bottle shares and beer pairings and this event is meant to introduce people new to the hobby to the many styles available.

With a focus mainly on local Georgia beer you may sample styles such as Pale Ales, India Pale Ales (IPAs), Stouts, Saisons, Sours (a broad category on its own), and maybe even some Mead.  Breweries featured may include Creature Comforts, Wild Heaven, Second Self, Reformation, SweetWater, Orpheus, and many others.  Each beer will have a card with it telling a bit about the style and representatives from Creature Comforts, , Reformation, and others, as well as homebrewers, will be there to answer any questions.

Jason says, “My goal with the Craft Beer 101 is to introduce a broader spectrum of craft beer to folks with little to no experience with it, and to support local breweries at the same time. The idea is that folks will get to try many different styles at one event to help them figure out what styles they like, and show them local examples of the styles that they can purchase around here. Almost all of the examples we’ll be using are local beers from Georgia breweries.”

If you’ve been curious about craft beer but intimidated by the stereotypical beer snob then check out this event.  You’ll enjoy a lot of great beer and small bites while talking with friendly people that are eager to share their passion.  We promise it’s not that scary, and hey… there’s beer.
