Second Self offers sneak peek of new tasting room

The tasting room at Second Self’s brewery has been closed to the public since December 2015 for a much-anticipated expansion. On Saturday, May 21st, 1-4pm, Second Self will invite guests to visit for the first time in 2016 for SNEAK PEEK SATURDAY. The event will be hosted outdoors, and guests can tour the in-progress, future tasting room with Second Self’s founders, set to reopen later this summer.

The new tasting room is tripled in size and will accommodate up to 200 guests. Square Feet Studio–an award-winning architecture, planning and design firm based in Atlanta–designed the new space, and its features include a 24-foot butcher-block bar, separate kitchen for catered events and regular chef pop-ups, reclaimed wood tables, and much more. With construction, Second Self has also added new brewing equipment, which will increase the brewery’s production by ~150%.

Tickets to SNEAK PEEK SATURDAY are $12 and available for purchase here. Tours during the event will include tastings of up to 36 oz. of Second Self beer samples on draft. A limited number of souvenir cans of Second Self’s seasonal releases CitrusIPA and Maverick and Gose will also be available for guests, while supplies last. These will be some of the first cans produced on-location at the brewery, which just added canning equipment to the facility as part of the expansion.

MAVERICK & GOSE (4.4% ABV, 8 IBU)—Second Self’s take on a traditional Gose includes fresh CORIANDER and DRY HOPPED with Wakatu hops to balance out the slightly TART and SALTY nature of this fun beer. A beer that’s good anytime but best enjoyed outdoors on your favorite patio.  Pairings include: grilled grouper, oysters, guacamole, parmesan cheese, the pool.

CITRUS IPA (6.2% ABV, 50 IBU)—Brewed with CITRUSY hops: Columbus, Amarillo, Citra & LEMON, ORANGE, & Grapefruit peel. Then dry-hopped with more Amarillo for added HOPPY citrus punch. The aroma is sweet, yet the taste is dry with a ROBUST IPA finish.  Parings include: pan-roasted trout, mussels, artichokes, gruyere cheese, and baseball.

ABOUT SECOND SELF BEER COMPANY

Jason Santamaria (32-years-old) and Chris Doyle (31-years-old) started Second Self as a home brewing experiment a decade ago, and their highly acclaimed beers were released to the public in fall 2014. The two met in college at Georgia Tech and bonded over a shared passion for good beer. Chris went on to work at Atlanta’s Sweetwater Brewery and earned his certificate from the American Brewers Guild Craft Brewers Apprenticeship program. Jason has a background in food and business. Second Self’s beers are brewed with only fresh ingredients like blue ginger and lemongrass (never dried ingredients or extracts). Jason and Chris designed each brew to be paired with food. Second Self’s brewery is located at 1317 Logan Circle NW, Atlanta, GA.
