Burnt Hickory is on the docket for this week’s Beer Guys radio show.

Tim and Aaron travel to Kennesaw to talk to the man behind Burnt Hickory Brewery, Scott Hedeen. The brewer, known for bold styles and brash brews, was busy preparing for next week’s Depot Park Beer Festival.

The always entertaining Hedeen was game to talk about how he got started – from traveling the country looking for good craft beer, to homebrewing, to the increasing popularity of his monthly release parties to the decision to leave his job in TV news and open up Burnt Hickory (BHB). He also talks about the challenges of brewing craft beer in Georgia, and the punk rock attitude he tries to bring to his beers and tap room. (Note: Even if you listened to the show on the air, you’ll want to listen to the podcast, which contains the full, unedited Hedeen interview. Great stuff that unfortunately wasn’t able to make it on-air).

Aaron, Tim, Scott Hedeen and Greg Niznik. Aaron's really having fun. Trust us.

Greg Niznik from the Depot Park Beer Fest also stopped by to talk about the preparations for the big event.

Truck and Tap‘s beers of the week include Burnt Hickory’s Didjits (blood orange IPA), Big Shanty (graham cracker stout) and the Spanish Bombs (habanero IPA….spicy!)

Thanks to the folks who came out to talk to us and watch the taping.

Next week? The Beer Guys are going live from the Depot Park Beer Festival. In the coming weeks, they’ll be talking to Abide, Jekyll, and other breweries from across the state.
