Win a pair of passes to Atlanta’s Nuit Belge on January 23rd
Nuit Belge debuted in Nashville in the Spring of 2015 and after a very successful launch in their home city the event will go on the road in 2016, Atlanta will be the first stop on the tour. The Foundry at Puritan Mill will host the event on January 23rd at 7:00 PM. With a focus on pairing Belgian and Belgian-style ales with gourmet food Nuit Belge is targeting a more upscale event than your typical beer fest. Restaurant participants in Atlanta include local favorites such as Bhojanic, Empire State South, Heirloom Market BBQ, Holeman & Finch, Iberian Pig, and many others. Each restaurant will provide dishes to complement a beer pairing from breweries such as Georgia’s Creature Comforts and Three Taverns as well as offerings from Blackberry Farm, DuPont, Oud Beersel, Straffe Hendrik, Boon, Rodenbach, St. Bernardus, and more. Here’s a sample of some of the pairings:
- Westmalle Dubbel paired with Bhojanic’s lamb curry, onion, tomato, garlic, ginger, yogurt sauce over cinnamon/cardamom basmati rice
- Creature Comforts Emergence paired with Empire State South’s fried catfish shumai
- Bachus Oud Bruin paired with Iberian Pig’s serrano braised rabbit empanadas with salsa verde and cumin crème fraîche
After their stop in Atlanta Nuit Belge will head to New Orleans on Feb. 26, Nashville on Mar. 12, and Charleston on Apr. 16. General session tickets are $129.00 plus fees for a total of $138.09. The event also offered a $159.00 VIP ticket however Atlanta VIP tickets are currently sold out. Rodenbach Caractere Rouge is fantastic. It has a great balance but it’s most enjoyable because you can pick out the cranberry vs cherry vs raspberry so easily. Perfect amount of tartness also. Was lucky enough to enjoy this on draft at Truck and Tap in Woodstock, GA
I’ve enjoyed all of the Cantillions I’ve had so far.
I’d have to say Cantillon Gueuze 100% Lambic is one of my favorites. Cantillon really knows how to blend the base beers to make an outstanding Goozie which is an art in and of itself.
I love Cantillion. As a sour fan, their lacto stuff is fantastic. It is really hyped up but meets all the hype you can throw at it! Wish it was easier to get, but I wouldn’t trade accessibility for availability!
I’ve only had a few Belgians, but my go to is St Bernardus Abt 12. It’s an amazingly balanced beer, with fruit notes and doesn’t taste heavy considering how dark it is
